Letter to AAA Members
Dear Members
I have had a great opportunity to serve you all as your President since Sept 2019. I believe that we have been faced with challenges not seen by any Board in the history of our Association. It has been a rough time for all. I am sure that when the yearly report card is distributed you will agree that despite this much has been achieved.
I would have continued to serve as your President for my full 3-year term had I not been presented with an opportunity I simply could not refuse. In my civilian role with the Department of Defence, I have been provided the opportunity to take on the role of Information Technology Manager for the Australian Future Submarine Project in Cherbourg, France for three years commencing Nov 2020.
Bronwyn and I intend to remain connected to our industry whilst overseas and look forward to continuing our long commitment upon our return at the end of 2023.
I have chosen to stand aside now as this provides the current Board the opportunity to elect an interim President from within its ranks until the AGM in Nov. I believe that this provides the best opportunity for ongoing stability in these very uncertain times. The Board has elected Prue Walduck as the Interim President until the AGM. Congratulations Prue, I know that the industry is in good hands.
I sincerely wish you all the best for the future. Please continue to support each other, your regions and Board. My thanks to the Board for maintaining focus during our difficult ride since Sept 2019.
Lastly, I would like to personally take this opportunity to thank our office staff. Amanda, Tanya and Vanessa for all the support they have provided to me during my tenure. You may not at times see all that these wonderful ladies do. But let me assure you it is critical to the ongoing business of our Association.
My resignation will take effect midnight Fri 7 Aug
All the best
Andrew Munn
